This is a guide to religious liberty in public education, including both accommodation of diverse beliefs and teaching about religion. It lays out the basis for these principles in constitutional law and provides a rich array of resources for educators, and traces the history of the constitutional basis for the guidelines for teaching about religion. Discusses the history of the process of building consensus over the role of the academic study of religion in public education, and accommodation of students’ religious beliefs and practices wherever possible.
